I live on Oahu, Hawaii with my husband Steve and our three kids.
I grew up on the beautiful island of Maui, Hawaii. As a kid, it was my ultimate dream to leave the "small island life" and pursue fame and fortune as an actress and filmmaker in Los Angeles. I went to college at the University of Southern California, where God unexpectedly rerouted my life. Through a series of encounters with God, I fell in love with following Jesus, and developed a passion for helping others encounter God.
After college, I served as a college campus minister with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. I met a fellow college minister named Steve, the man who would later become my husband. We got married and continued to serve college students, develop leaders, and plant campus ministries together for over a decade. Along the way we had our three beautiful, rambunctious kids.
My passion for helping others encounter God eventually took me down a new path of getting trained as a spiritual director. I attended the School of Spiritual Direction with Dr. Larry Crabb's NewWay Ministries.
Currently, Steve and I serve on the leadership team of Bluewater Mission Church in Honolulu, Oahu, and we co-lead a Bluewater faith community on the West Side of Oahu called Bluewater West Side, a movement of missional communities and church expressions.
Other things that I love: reading with my kids, baking granola and bread, creating space for people to feel loved, drinking Old Vine Zinfandel, and using the Bullet Journal to get all the life stuff done.
I believe in the power of storytelling. You can find my writing in these places:
